#GivingTuesday is part of a global movement to celebrate an international day of giving fueled which is by the power of social media and power of collaboration.
This #GivingTuesday 2016, Broadway Stages joins the #GivingTuesday movement to help sponsor recreational enrichment and outdoor activities for local Brooklyn students who meet USDA(U.S. Department of Agriculture) free or reduced lunch requirements by supporting Camp Brooklyn Fund‘s summer camp program. The 2-week summer program funded by Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, will expose these children, also called campers, to educational opportunities that teach them about the natural environment and allow them to participate in recreational activities which promote personal growth and healthy living. Campers will also be introduced to and be able to experience hands-on green initiatives by learning about waste management and garden farming.
Our CEO and President Gina Argento’s contributions, on behalf of Broadway Stages, this 2016 #GivingTuesday will match donations to support 300 Brooklyn students and support 2-weeks of youth development for each student at various sleep-away camps. Debra of Camp Brooklyn describes Gina’s commitment is,”essential to helping send more children to camp year after year. Her generosity and input as a Board Member help returning and first-time campers experience a wonderful summer. Gina does this from the heart and that means a lot to us and the children.”
Gina’s commitment to Camp Brooklyn has allowed children from Brooklyn to develop educational and personal growth. Gina will continue to support future first-time and returning campers by donating to Camp Brooklyn.
Camp Brooklyn is a summer development program which sends 7-16-year-old students from Brooklyn public schools who meet free or reduced lunch requirements to sleep-away camps for 2-weeks. The 2-week program engages students in swimming, boating, hiking, and cooking. Recreational activities at the sleep-away camps are designed to help create meaningful friendships by encouraging campers to engage in outdoor activities. Outdoor enrichment aims to provide students with positive development used to promote self-esteem and personal growth through group exercises.
