Broadway Stages wishes you all a wonderful 2016 Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving Weekend with your family, friends, and loved ones! This Thanksgiving holiday, Broadway Stages participated in the annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner for Veterans at the Borden Avenue Veterans Residence(BAVR) located at 21-10 Borden Ave, Long Island City. The BAVR program is a short-term housing program funded by New York City Department of Homeless Service (DHS) to provide housing to 243 veterans in Long Island City. To thank the veterans at BAVR for their service, Broadway Stages catered the event by providing baked turkeys, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and chocolate desserts for the Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The food was donated by Broadway Stages and was cooked by the Executive Chef of the William Vale hotel. Thanksgiving Day volunteers from Broadway Stages helped load and deliver over 500 Thanksgiving dinner meals the morning of Thanksgiving Day to the BAVR facility. Broadway Stages’s Thanksgiving Day volunteers were greeted by BAVR faculty and helped serve over 250 veterans and BAVR staff in celebration of Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving event helped bring close together volunteers from Broadway Stages and BAVR to serve our brave veterans and thank them for their service.
A volunteer from Broadway Stages shared, “It feels great to help serve veterans who served our country. We want them to enjoy a great Thanksgiving meal and a great Thanksgiving holiday. This is what Thanksgiving is all about. We want to just be able to share this moment with them and just give back to them today.”
The 2016 Thanksgiving Day Dinner was sponsored by Broadway Stages’s President, Gina Argento.
